Database connection help

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help.

Not used my database space for a few years now, but doing my HNC computing and decided to update my website as part of my multimedia project/assessment. I used to use an off site Guestbook, but now I know how to build my own, so want to program one myself.

The site is complete apart from the user guestbook. I cannot get Dreamweaver(CS3) to connect to the mySQL database on my webspace. I have read that it is a problem with Dreamweaver, but possibly F2S (now owned by whoever) have changed it so you can only access the database through myPHPAdmin on the site.

I am a bit lost with how to connect now, with server changes as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.

Re: Database connection help

I always just use phpMyAdmin, but if I were you I would install a command line mySQL client on my PC and see if I could connect using that. If it worked it would at least show that it wasn't a problem with your connection (e.g. port 3306 blocked) or whatever.

Re: Database connection help

You only can manage your database through the freedom2surf members login area.

Remote access via client database utilities is not possible as the databases are located behind a firewall.
