phpMyAdmin

Why does it seem to take an eternity when I want to use the phpMyAdmin tool? After I log in, I wait and wait and then finally after several minutes I may get access to that tool. What is this about? I don't understand it. I am using the same ISP and have better service now since I use DSL. So, what is the problem?

Might be easier to install your own version of it as it would probably be quicker...

Mind you, I see you connecting here via a non f2s IP so this may be part of the issue.

I've found it extremely slow to login as well to the new phpmyadmin installation at phpmyadmin.freedom2surf.net. I tried to login just now and it took 1 min 50 seconds to go from the login screen to the home screen of phpmyadmin. Now I've clicked on a database in the left hand menu, and after waiting ages both frames now give me internal server errors.

I'm not sure if installing it on your own webspace will help (at least if you are on Linux hosting) as the new phpmyadmin installation is just running on the Linux hosting platform along with all the other websites (it points at the same IP), instead of it's own server like the old installation was. Really it's just another example of Pipex making things worse. The old phpmyadmin installation worked just fine, and the new one doesn't.

Don't worry though, there's a new mail platform coming .... Maybe they'll recycle the C64's powering it to the web platform!

phpmyadmin and browser issue?

So, I tried phpmyadmin again hoping against hope that the slow access problem had disappeared and of course it had not. Then I realized that f2s is using javascript in connection with getting access to the database tool. I then had an idea -- maybe they are using javascript that FireFox can't handle well? So, I held my nose and switched to Internet Explorer. Sure enough everything worked and in good time, too. This may have been a fluke or maybe it is the answer. Who knows? Wish s.one at f2s would seriously look into this.

I don't think it's a javascript problem. I find it slow in Opera, and you can see it's just hanging there waiting for a reponse from the server.

phpMyAdmin Resolution

I also requested help from f2s in re this issue and the engineer keeps emailing me that he needs my database password. Does that make any sense if there are other users effected besides myself? Aren't there sysadmin tools that would allow an engineer to test the current configuration of phpmyadmin against the current web platform?

Opera just showed me waiting 1 min 39 seconds to get from the login screen to the phpmyadmin home page. I really don't get why they need your password to fix the problem.

The Engineering team ...

If the tech team at f2s is unaware or unable to discern that there is a problem in users trying to access phpmyadmin, what does that mean? Is it a case of collective, over-active imaginations? If so, how extraordinary!
