mod_rewrite - enabled?

Simple question... is mod_rewrite enabled on the F2S hosting servers. I have a .co.uk domain registered and I'm paying for the hosting with F2S.

I have searched the forum and can see that it wasn't but I believe the platform has changed since then.

I have tried it and it doesn't seem to work but I could have a typo I havn't yet found :-(

Does anyone know for sure?

Regards
Graeme Evans

Hi,

Use a phpinfo page to identify this.

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

I think yours might be showing it Chaz because you are running PHP as an Apache module, but the Webfusion servers run it as a CGI and don't show the apache2handler block of info in phpinfo().

Perldiver shows 661 Apache modules installed - but can't find rewrite anywhere!

If you want to try perldiver yourself get it from
http://www.scriptsolutions.com/programs/
Its free but you have to register with the site (doesn't seem to be a problem)

This is strange because I am using WSN links script and using the option to rewrite URL's and its working OK.
So I'm confused (again!)

Re: mod_rewrite - enabled?

So, is mod_rewrite available for everyone to use? I ask b/c I want to re-architect my site and want to use the ZendFramework which uses mod_rewrite. So any thoughts? Somehow I'd gotten the impression that mod_rewrite was available only for f2s internal use. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: mod_rewrite - enabled?

Eventually found my password to login!

Out of curiosity I googled for a test script to see if I could test it.
I used this one How To Test Check If Mod_rewrite Is Enabled

Uploaded the 2 files and it works on F2S webspace.

I am using mod rewrite in another script (WSN Links)on a different F2S site and it works there.

So I think that the short answer is that it works for me!
