Can't delete logfiles?
Hello,
I see there is a folder called logfiles in my free f2s webspace but I am unable to delete the log files contained because I am not the owner and also am unable to change attributes on these files. I understand they are automatically generated #Software: PIPEX Communications Hosting, Apache Log System permissions are locked at -rw-r It's not possible to delete these files? I don't really want to leave log files behind of my webspace (not that there's anything dodgy going on! lol). the logs list every source that has viewed/downloaded files from my webspace. I am in the process of migrating from F2S (only just requested my MAC). I understand after some time my webspace and members account will be deleted anyway automatically? |

maybe something to do with data retention laws?
probably not - just an idea. |

I doubt it's anything to do with any laws. They probably did it to stop people deleting them then complaining they have no logs
![]() The webspace should be removed eventually I would think, but don't know how long that will take.

thanks for the input, I did think maybe it is to do with keeping track of what goes on with free webspace, so they can use logs as proof of any rules/laws being broken. I can't say I've really seen logfiles kept like that before by ISPs for free webspace, but maybe all ISPs have always done it but you just don't see the files usually.
In my view I think a customer should have the right to protect other users info who have visited the webspace by removing the log files but I suppose this is not the case as ultimately the ISP has end control on access information and since it's provided as free webspace it's not like the customer has any true control/ownership. |
