Where has my website gone?
I got an email saying everything was being migrated to a new server. As I understood it nothing would change and all would be fine.
Now I have no website at all and I can't even login via ftp

What do you get when you browse to your website? FTP may not work because they changed the FTP username format as mentioned in the FAQ on their website:

Yers I changed the ftp details to the correct ones. Not working.
www.erictheviking.f2s.com is the website domain. I tried contacting the ISP support but you have to re-register again for some reason for you to even log a ticket with name, address, etc even though they already have my details in the members section

Is your FTP client setup to go straight into the www.erictheviking.f2s.com in it's settings? If so that could cause a problem as that directory doesn't exist on the new platform. Instead of your site being in the www.erictheviking.f2s.com directory, it's now in the public_html directory (as it says in the FAQ).
The 500 server error is across the entire site, so it might be a problem with a .htaccess file. If you can get FTP working, you could try renaming the .htaccess file to see if that gets the site working. If your FTP client has a log window which shows the FTP commands going by, paste in that output here so we can see what errors you are getting. Edit: The new support section for raising tickets is probably like that because it's managed by another company which presumably doesn't integrate very well with the existing F2S customer database.

I made a typo on the ftp details so it is working again now.
The main page is just a straight html file and there is no .htaccess files that I can remember on any level or folder as there is nothing on there which needs to be password protected. |

Yes, but F2S have added a .htaccess file to all accounts I think to give you the option of running under PHP4. Make sure your FTP client is set to show hidden files and check if there is a .htaccess file, and rename it if there is one. Other than that I'm not really sure what could be causing the error. It would help if F2S gave you access to the error log.

Thanks that has worked. Just been round in circles with raising a support ticket (Brian from Pipex). Why they couldn't just tell me that, it can't be just me who has had this problem?
Grrrr from a frustrated customer and grrr for a useless ticket support that can't even integrate with the f2s customer database. |

Glad you got it fixed
Did you see what the .htaccess file had in it? The .htaccess shouldn't have been so messed up as to break the entire site.

I haven't looked
I was lazy and knocked an s off the end to see if it worked.I have replied to my support ticket saying I have the answer and it might be a good idea to place it in the FAQ. I can't be the only person to have this issue. |
