php memory allocation

I use phpgedview on my site. Since I have moved to the new server (thanks), my larger family tree file no longer processes when I run the php script, as I now get out of memory messages.

Phpgedview faqs - http://www.phpgedview.net/faq.php#memory - say I should change my php.ini file to increase memory_limit = 8M to say memory_limit = 32M.

I tried this and it didn't work. I haven't been able to use php.ini on the old F2s server and have no experience of this and am probably doing it all wrong. Does anyone know what this setting is on the new server, can it be increased, and if I can't do it for myself, whether F2S would consider increasing it for me to use phpgedview.

Thanks

I just tried and can't get the memory limit to change using php.ini either. The memory limit on the new servers is 16MB, whereas it looks like it was 32MB on the old servers:

http://www.freedom2support.f2s.com/s...fo/phpinfo.php

You could try contacting F2S pointing out it was 32MB on the old servers, and that this change has broken things.

I seem to have got almost all bits working on the new server

I replaced all $DOCUMENT_ROOT with $DOCUMENT_ROOT_REAL - that stumped me for a bit. I just now need to get memory_limit = 16M to be increased. Richard - what do you think?

Done. We've now increased the limit to match the old platform - now set to 32M.

Thanks Richard. Yo have been fantastically helpful. Much appreciated. The website all works and I'm just about ready to start taking advantage of the new improvements and database space.
