How To Set Your Domain Tag To Move To A New Provider

I could not find the info any where so I'm posting for all other users who want to move their domain / web space / email away from F2S to a new provider.

Quote:
If you would like to transfer xxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk away, you need to

1) Find out your new isp's IPS tag.
2) Cancel the service from the Next Billing Dates section of your f2s
Members Area and enter the new IPS tag on the same page.
3) Confirm the tag change with the Members Area password. The change will
be instant.

There is no extra charge for transfers, but we do ask that
4) Your payments are up to date.

Any unexpired annual domain, web or email hosting will be retained.

Kind Regards

Your information only applies to UK domain names. Dotcoms are different.

I wrote a fairly comprehensive post on this subject yesterday which can be read here.

Note that a domain cannot be transferred out until 60 days after it has been registered or transferred in - but you can still change the nameservers in the F2S Members Area to point to a host that actually provides a proper service.

Note also that domains and webspace/email are entirely separate issues - it is perfectly possible to set up webspace/email elsewhere and keep F2S as domain registrar (though they are just overpriced Tucows resellers).

When you transfer a domain and pay for another year with a new registrar this should be added to your existing registration - you lose nothing.

When you transfer your webspace/email you lose any money paid to F2S but (hopefully) gain a provider who knows how to run a webserver.
