What if I leave F2S as ISP?
This is probably a basic question, but I'm not very technically minded!
I have my domain name hosted by F2S and I use F2S as my ISP, however I have become soooo frustrated with the broadband service I'm thinking of switching to Telewest as my ISP. Will this affect the domain name I have with F2S or is this a completely separate thing? Will I still be able to log into the members area to manage the domain name side of things? Also.... when the domain name is up for renewal, does this happen automatically or do I risk losing it? Thanks

If you have bought a domain name from F2S (ie not a username.f2s.com subdomain) then you will still be able to login to the members area and manage your domain name. Just the "Your ADSL Details" section will disappear when you move your ADSL away. I'm pretty sure domain renewals are automatic and they just charge your account (debit/credit card, direct debit or whatever).

Hello HunkyDora mora
Don't rush unless you are in a real rush i.e. loosing vast amounts of money due to lack of service. From what i'm reading from the new support staff in the comments they have made it would appear that the loss in email service is due to changes in hardware. I would """"guess"""" that this hardware is being changed to equipment which is more understood and desired by the new technical team at F2S influenced by the PIPEX model. So if when this hardware is changed and settles, a good quality of service should resume. I have personaly decided to give them until the end of MAY to settle things down and then i will be jumping rope erm i mean ship if things are not better by then. Mean while i'm going to moan like bugger on these forums.. |

All ISP's have problems but F2S have been more open about things (over the last few days at least) than most others. I'll give it time to settle before deciding. No point in frying pan to.... |

All you have to do is get your domain tag from F2s and inform your new ISP. Freenetname/Madasafish will sign you on with ADSL and a mailbox using your domain name. I've been on the brink of leaving F2s for weeks; but rather like a husband with an unfaithful wife - I keep giving them another chance! Am I being foolish? We shall see.

Thanks for the replies
I would give them another chance, but I have just moved house and they have upgraded me (given me no choice) and my service is now dreadful. As I have mentioned on another post, whenever the phone rings and I answer it my connection is lost. It is NOT the filters, I have tried new filters on Every device plugged into a socket, I have tried everything. I used to be with Telewest and they were excellent, I think they may have won me back! |

I've had no Internet access since last Friday morning. No problems on the exchange, and I don't use the USR modem. Only had the auto responder email to the tech support ticket since. Helen has also passed my details on via adslguide (before I found this site!). Alas this doesn't seem to have woken anyone up. I can't have another weekend without access due to work commitments. If there's no joy by tomorrow I'm taking Eclipse up on their month's free trial. I used to tell anyone I knew to use F2S. Not any more I won't.
