Database Issues

Over the past few days I've started having database problems. I run phpBB which has been fine for months. I've not changed anything but have started to get "cannot connect to database" errors.
I know it's not the phpBB because when I go to log into the database tool on the webpage (f2s') I put in my details, click Log In and I get the page cannot be found error. This happens on 2 different machines using 2 different ISPs

I should point out it's quite intermittent. For example, people have complained the couldn't connect for about 10 minutes this morning, now they can, but this keeps happening.

Any ideas? I really need this running again

I haven't been around to actively pick up on the problem, however the service status hasn't reported anything unusual, though it only checks for connections every 10 minutes so it may have escaped it's notice.
