My website has suddenly stopped working
Hi, I note that talktalk have been doing some server moves recently. Could this be why my website has suddenly stopped working.
As a (former) F2S customer I've had a website using my free webspace running for about the past 5 years or so. I hadn't needed to do anything to it since takeover by TalkTalk but then suddenly sometime within the past couple of weeks or so, my website is no longer displaying, and it returns: "This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying". ![]() The site was written using Joomla. I can connect to my ftp server, and I've now got websiteos access and phpMyAdmin access, but does anybody know why my Joomla site will have suddenly just stopped working? I noted that there has been a change in folder structure i.e. public vs public_html. Is there something I need to do/set/change using the websiteos admin tools? Any suggestions appreciated . many thanks Bri

Re: My website has suddenly stopped working
Well I know I may be talking to myself
but just in case there is another out there with the same problem I finally tracked it down. The 'absolute path' on the server to my joomla installation has completely changed, presumably as a result of server moves. So thank you TalkTalk Business for letting me know. Fortunately once I'd considered that perhaps this was a possibility, the joomla documentation gave me a php script to find the new absolute path. After editing configuration.php, hey presto we're back up and serving. So I think that the following quote from Tiscali & TalkTalk User - Freedom2Surf Brand to be Phased out from 31st January "No disruption to your services
![]() A few weeks of embarrassment at having a failed website with no time to look into it, one small eureka moment and an hour or so of research is all it took to resolve!

Re: My website has suddenly stopped working
Sorry - normally I would help but my own webspace I am locked out from for the last while, so there was nothing constructive I could say!
![]() I agree though the way the migration was carried out was in nowhere near adequate. |
