Temporary URLs - Webspace

Just thought I'd share some knowledge that I've picked up on a project I'm working on...

Scenario

1. I have a domain registered elsewhere.
2. I want to transfer the domain into f2s and purchase webspace for it.
3. Before I complete the transfer I want to install some CMS, configure and test the new website which is on my development server.

Solution

1. Put in a domain transfer request.
2. Buy webspace.
3. Use 194.154.164.101 as the ftp address
4. Login using the credentials for the inbound domain ie: membername@inbounddomainname.com
5. Access the webspace using: 194.154.164.100/~membername@inbounddomainname.com/

Voila! Full access for uploading and testing prior to the domain transfer completing.

Apologies if I've repeated some info here but I couldn't find it and thought it'd be useful...

Glad to hear this one worked, wasn't sure thinking back, if this was possible.

Thanks Brian - it all turned out lovely, didn't need any intervention after all, worked it out from the Webfusion website

Re: Temporary URLs - Webspace

Don't think that was possible on the old f2s servers pre-pipex buyout, the workaround I used was a hosts file, but seems indeed it does work on the current platform, so I'm sure this really is going to be useful for people and it isn't repeated
