Dear Users,
Summer is now upon us, and from now, we will be releasing quarterly updates on developments at Freedom2Support and our plans for the future. We have a few things to mention in this issue, so I will get down to them. Phasing out of Dial-up Support Due to user feedback, and our own research, we have discovered that our F2S Dialup section is now surplus to requirements, the dialup forum has had no posts within the last 11 months, with just 83 forum topic views in the same period, and 74 page views on the dialup section of our site. As an effect of this, the dialup forum will be discontinued from 25th June 2003 at 00.01 with immedate effect. the topics will be moved into the General Internet forum. All posts related to the dialup service in future should be made here. The dialup section on the website will remain in place until 1st August 2003, after which the dialup FAQ will be still acessible, but will not be avalaible from the main navigation on the website. All Support for Freedom2Surf Dialup services via Freedom2Support will officialy end on 1st January 2004, where all dialup sections not related to the ADSL Service will be removed. New This Month Added this month was a new Tutorial from Matt on choosing the right hardware for your ADSL Setup containing the pro's and con's of PCI Modems, USB Modems and Ethernet Routers. This New Tutorial can be found either by visiting the ADSL Forum, or visiting the ADSL Tutorials Section of the main website. Also added this month has been our glossary of technical terms, and an update to the Fujistsu FDX310 Drivers in the ADSL Tools Section. Conduct On The Forums In Recent weeks we have had a few cases when users have tried to impersonate Freedom2Surf Staff and pretending to post as them, this behaviour at Freedom2Support is unacceptable, should you behave in this way, you will be automatically banned from viewing the forums, and should further abuse of our website occur in such a manner that we do not deem fit, we will contact Freedom2Surf to report your abuse of their connection. Another thing I would like to highlight is posts to unreleased or illegal software or pages contaning links or information that violates any law whatsoever, we have had a few cases in the last month when people have done this, and on one ocassion we recieved a C&D order about the offending post, such posts will not be tolerated here, should you abuse the forums in this way, your posts will be moderated. Forums Upgrade? Freedom2Support would also like to publicly state we have no plans to upgrade to Invision Power Board 1.2, even when it hits final release, we feel we have a stable, and good forum solution here at the moment, and feel we have no reason to upgrade from something that currently serves us so well. An Upgrade will not be happening in the forseeable future. That just about rounds up this update, it's just left to me to thank all the visitors for their continued support of this community website, and to wish you a trouble free internet experience in the coming months, where you really can exercise your Freedom2Surf. Until next time.... Kind Regards, Justin Johnson Freedom2Support.net Project Leader
