Freedom2Surf Offers Donation to Freedom2Support

Today I am pleased to announce that freedom2surf have offered to make a very generous Christmas Gift of a donation to Freedom2Support's running costs for 2007 to further empower our ability to support our users.

Both Freedom2Support and freedom2surf value the presence of an independent forum to help and assist customers, where issues with the service are raised by forum members and discussion takes place leading to feedback which can both help take the service forward and assist users looking for help and support with their products and services.

Freedom2Support is committed to working with freedom2surf, where possible, to provide useful feedback, and opinions to how the products and services can be offered and improved. Today's announcement will further foster a spirit of co-operation between Freedom2Surf and ourselves to ensure we really can help users exercise their freedom2surf services to the maximum.

The Freedom2Support Team's structure, management and hosting will continue as normal, and our independence will be unaffected by such donation and all services will continue to be offered in the same way they always were through our website.

Thats great news Justin and the others.

Also it shows that Freedom 2 Surf value your input, and is indeed a great gesture.

Well done to Freedom 2 Surf for recognising this forum's importance.

An excellent gesture by f2s indeed.. An unofficial resource like this is ideal for f2s customers, and I only hope they let more people know about it in the new year

I hope Justin, you asked for The Hoff himself to come and deliver the cheque?

Goo news guys (and gals!).

Mind you this site must have saved F2S a fortune by sorting out their customers problems this year.

Merry Christmas

I'm reserving judgement on this one for now.

Oh you're too suspicious Chaz. Nothing's changing for us. If I do a front page post on something breaking I will still point out if they make no mention on their status site, and I'll still have a go at them if I think they are being stupid.

Lol, Adam, I didn't mean it like that.

I just don't know whether my words of criticism would be 'sweetly frowned upon' or be set against me or indeed your team by them as donators. I know you guys are far above being pety but I don't however know whether 'words' would be had.

Cynical, paranoid, but more than anything, damn aware of the trouble I cause with my cutting words.

Finally, I've supported a forum funded by an ISP and seen just how 'censored' it can be.

I just worry I suppose.

I didn't imply that f2support would be wholly funded, I've discussed the potential of this before.

I'm all in favour of f2support having some funding, and when I'm back at work, I'll certainly be chipping in.

We just don't need another Plusnet Usergroup Censoring waste of time.

f2s Usergroup yes, but we won't and shouldn't be bought or twisted.

They couldn't afford us if they wanted to We wouldn't have done this if we thought it would be in any way bad for the users, which is after all the reason we are here.

I understand .... but the main thing to bear in mind is that we're not financially dependant upon f2s and if they took umbrage at anything we said or did, the lack of any further donation from them would have no impact on the site at all. What would be more damaging, in my opinion, would be if they stopped their people helping on the site. In fact, I think a more active presence would be of greater value than monetary support ..... but thanks to f2s for the Christmas prezzie .... !!

I know it won't, I know all 3 of you well enough.

Further, Adam, you just said that you wouldn't have done it if it was to be bad for the users, does this mean its already accepted? (Not that it matters..)

And Justin, yes I do worry too much, but I hope this time, I am over worrying.

Chaz - We would only accept it if we felt it would not effect the site in the negative way, it does not negatively effect the site or it's independence hence why it has been accepted

In which case, a modification may be in order for the announcement to the tune of acceptance of the offer made in the opening paragraph.

And I'm not against it, as long as there are no repercussions down the line.

There will be no repercussions down the line. We have no desire to go the Plusnet way so to speak.

Mmm, considering how few of the team, actually use F2s as a isp. We could be nothing like +net's group. Due to this we can be as open and honest as is needed, but have years of experiance of the F2s set up, as you know too well

It is good news and really puts this forum on a good sound footing.

Yes indeed, which is why another ISP asked me to help them as I'm not with them. It helps add balance, and I respect and appreciate it.

I'll hush up now.

I can understand this... one one side been cynical one may think this is a back door for F2S... but on the reverse it could simply be recognition that F2support does offer some good indipendant value to every one.

I still say they should place a link on their page to F2S as an indipendant forum.....

Just my 2p

Be careful, it may end up being a flash ad that talks to you!

Subliminal messaging and all!

I think it should be 'accepted' as a support means, albeit independent.

It stats that we're independent in the title on the front page, and if you are not logged in you willl get a welcome block on top of the news explaining this.
