When posting connection/speed problems...

...does anyone think it might be a good idea to put in their gateway at f2s? Then at a glance, people (and support) could see whether a problem was common or random.

Just a thought.

Or hack the vbulletin software to let us put it in our profile and have it displayed under name ... similar to location and join date. Perhaps Connection and Gateway.

I'm not so sure having the gateway under your name on the left would really add anything to the site.

The connection can be set under your profile under F2S products used.

Anyone could add their gateway or connection speed, or indeed anything they want, in their signature.

I never actually thought of putting it on the left. I meant the way I have done it in my sig.

I have seen several posts where the gw has been relevant. Just thought it might be helpful.

What you guys have to remember is we're not a freedom2surf ADSL Support site. We're a freedom2surf support site, whilst ADSL is without a doubt the major product we support, I don't want it to get to a stage where it looks like it's going to be at the expense of support on everything else.

But as TBL has said, you can put such information in your sig or next to your connection information in your profile. I may toy adding an option on signup to disclose your gateway which all existing users could fill in, but this would only appear on your profile, not next to posts, and would probbably mean the referer field being hidden from public view to stop it getting a bit cluttered.
