Mail Maintenance
We would like to give our customers advance notice of planned maintenance work.
We constantly strive to develop and update our services and consequently major investment is being made in new equipment to improve our mail service. In order to minimise disruption, work on this equipment is taking place on the evening of 16th January at 22.00. During this time customers will temporarily lose access to their mailbox. Access to all mail services should resume at approximately 15.00 on Saturday 17th January. All archived emails should remain intact and any new emails received during the outage will be delivered once service has resumed. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. |

Re: Mail Maintenance
Hi Antonio,
Given the amount of problems reported by users, and the wall of silence from f2s; can you be any more specific upon what this "maintenance" will actually be doing?

Re: Mail Maintenance
Hi Antonio
I'll also be interested in a more detailed explanation of what's going on. Will the amount of spam getting through your filters also be reduced with this improvement? |

Re: Mail Maintenance
I'll hazard a guess that after maintenance has been completed email will be fooked for several days if past "planned maintenance" is anything to go by .....

Re: Mail Maintenance
No doubt, but as f2s don't seem to communicate anymore, you won't be made aware of it =)

Re: Mail Maintenance
Hmm. Have they started early or does somebody need to hit the reset button on the server?
The status page shows that 'all's well' but pinging outmail.f2s.com times out (inmail.f2s.com pings OK). Misterfish |

Re: Mail Maintenance
Has the mail maintenance started early???
I've had no mail access from about 0830 this morning. Can't log in on the server either. |

Re: Mail Maintenance
The maintenace has not started early. The current issue with incoming email is an unexpected outage and its being investigated.

Re: Mail Maintenance
I think outmail.f2s.com not responding to ping is normal (they've set it up to do that). I can't ping it either, but can connect to it to send mail fine.

Re: Mail Maintenance
Well, the maintenance has in fact started early (though not when Antonio posted).
See the latest status update posted about 20 minutes ago on the F2S web site. |

Re: Mail Maintenance
The migration to the new platform has been completed but we still working to restore the service to all customers. Please be aware that until the service is restored completely, some customer would be unable to access their incoming mail.
We will provide a further update when the service is fully restored. We apologise for the disruption and for any inconvenience that this may have caused. |

Re: Mail Maintenance
All users are now able to access their email by webmail or if they set up their mail client as IMAP. Please be aware that until the service is restored completely, some users would be unable to access their incoming mail if they set up their mail client as POP3
We will provide a further update when the service is fully restored. We apologise for the disruption and for any inconvenience that this may have caused. |

Re: Mail Maintenance
I'm going to lock this thread as discussion is happening in two places.
For clarity: This thread was to announce upcoming maintenance for the platform. The other thread was to announce a service failure prompting this maintenance to be brought forward. Link here to new thread.
