Decommissioning of 'f2s' DNS Servers

Below is a quote from the f2s status system detailing that the 'old' f2s DNS servers will be removed on the 24th of January and that the Tiscali replacements should be used from now forwards.

Those with dynamically assigned addresses should not worry as the new addresses are already in use, but if you have manually static set addresses, you should endeavour to change these sooner rather than later to avoid potential issues on the 24th.

Failing that, you could try the OpenDNS project DNS servers which also have built in filtering that may be useful to those with children etc. More information is available on their website located at www.opendns.com or by clicking here.

I would hope f2s intend on mailing everyone from their database as not everyone reads these forums nor the f2s status page unless there is a problem, by which time with no DNS they won't be able to get to either!

We are discussing this change on our forums here.

Quote:
As of the 24th January our primary and secondary DNS servers 194.106.56.6 and 194.106.33.42 will be decommissioned.

Their replacements are already live and available to use as follows: 212.139.132.44 and 212.139.132.43.

These new addresses are being assigned automatically, so unless you have statically entered DNS servers you should not need to update your network settings.

Update:

If however you are, to avoid any disruption please ensure that use the following alternatives:

th-cache-1.ns IN A 212.139.132.5
th-cache-2.ns IN A 212.139.132.6
hx-cache-1.ns IN A 212.139.132.21
hx-cache-2.ns IN A 212.139.132.22
