PM Spam Users Have Received Today
Today just after 12pm a user signed up to the forums and sent spam PMs to a lot of our userbase, causing a lot of you to get a notification email saying that you'd received the spam PM. Honestly this is a pain in the backside for us as it is for you and we appologise for any inconvenience caused.
The spam was sent through the PM system just like any normal user, so this doesn't mean the spammer had access to your email address. The user who sent the spam has already been banned and we have enabled a feature which should prevent this happening on such a large scale in future. Really we should have had this feature already enabled as it would probably have prevented so many of you receiving this spam PM, so we can only apologise for our mess up in not having this enabled. We will also be looking at other things we can do to help prevent spam via PM like this. Users have already started a thread discussing this here, so if you have any questions/comments about this please post them in there.
