Me neither and, trust me, I looked hard before migrating. Look forward to seeing you over at the 'other side'! I'm sure that you would be made to feel as welcome as I was when I moved.

I don't actually know if there is a buyout clause. I'll need to go and read the small print.

If it is £45 though, when time is money, it could well be worth it.

The £210 million tie-up between Pipex, Britain’s sixth biggest broadband provider, and Tiscali could face a significant delay after the Office of Fair Trading announced a probe into the deal.

The OFT announced today that it is to investigate the tie-up between the two rivals for any potential competition issues.

The OFT is inviting comments on the deal until Aug 17.

And I wonder who asked OfCom if it something to be looked at?

Hint: It's The Times reporting this.

How about 'The Team' on here getting together and becoming Enta resellers? Just a thought!

Actually it might not be. There was an item on the local news about a week ago saying that OFCOM had received a complaint. It didn't say who it was from, but from the type of complaint, (unauthorised transfer of services), I would think it was an individual customer.

Start upselling Tiscali products to Pipex customer base in early 2008
Migration of Pipex customers to Tiscali network to commence and be completed in
2008
as taken from a link to a pdf file earlier in this topic

http://www.borsaitaliana.it/bitApp/v.../new/31261.pdf

although the roadmap contains suggestions of being integrated into Tiscali, would upselling suggest if Tiscali keeps all brands that it will sell exactly the same services for the same prices?

there is no detail to indicate what it means. It might be the case brands keep individual pricing but all offer services that tiscali can provide. A similar thing happened when F2S was bought by Pipex, we saw similar things at Nildram and F2S.

Something that does worry me is the transfer to the Tiscali network, and something which I will have to investigate, but a lot can happen between now and 1 year away. Tiscali will have to invest in expanding for extra customer load from the ISPs they have aquired. Who knows what to expect in the future from their network?

Angry Oh dear where to go?

Well, I'm a lawyer and twice I've had to help people get their money back from Tiscali when T provided no service or support but still took funds - and in one case continued to take funds AND threaten legal action when they had already confirmed in writing that they would not... I did actually get some compensation for the client and my costs paid by Tiscali on that one.

So, I'm off, soon-ish. But where?

I work from home and at present use my work email domestically as well. I came to F2s to escape Btinternet.

My wish list would be:

Pop 3 mail (essential);
No lock-in (essential);
No site blocking like the BT "Cleanfeed" or similar (essential - I am not a terrorist but I refuse to be spied on - it was why I actually left BT);
Spam filtering that does has a junk box so I can check if it has filtered something I really wanted (f2s fails that);
Virus etc screening - but not stupid screening that stops anyone sending me a url to link to;
No activation fee;
Several email addresses (I really must do that some time) - and a good way to hoover up emails sent to my old bt and f2s addresses;
8mps;
Enough bandwidth for occasional filesharing;
UK based support (preferably 24/7, preferably free or local rate);
W98SE and Outlook support (preferably);
Space for a website if I ever get around to it;
I don't want a router - I've already got one;
Cheap would be nice...;

I had thought of Zen, but the evil empire got to them first. What about madasafish, or demon, or the others at the top of that list linked to earlier in this thread? Or is ADSL24 the only real game in town?

ADSL24 are an Entanet reseller. There are a number of them providing a variety of services. Most of them provide the same or similar services at or around the same price point.

The following site has a list of them. Look in the site navigation pane on the left hand side:- http://www.entachoice.org.uk/

jje: It was an honest question and personally, I think it deserved a sensible reply.

The latest:
- The sale will not be completed until 7th September at the earliest.

- The Disposal will result in Pipex ceasing to have ownership of the “Pipex” name and certain other trademarks. At completion, a limited licence will be granted by the Buyer to the Group allowing it to use those trademarks and associated domain names for specified periods of up to two years from completion.

- The number of certain categories of customers of the Broadband and Voice Division will be the subject of an independent verification exercise on 27 August 2007. If this exercise shows that the number of relevant customers has declined by more than 5 per cent. from the estimated number of such customers as at 31 July 2007, then the amount of consideration payable to Pipex at completion will decrease on a straight line basis for each such customer below the 95 per cent. threshold.

- The Buyer has certain rights to terminate the Sale Agreement prior to completion, including in the event that any or all of the companies in the Broadband and Voice Division are subject to a “material adverse change” having an impact on the business, operations, assets, value or financial position of such companies of more than £40 million or if the number of certain categories of customers of the Broadband and Voice Division has declined by more than 20 per cent. by 27 August 2007.

So we want those wanting to jump ship, to not jump until 1st August at the earliest otherwise they won't be counted in the count, which we want them to be so it looks like a large number have left and Tiscali may start re-thinking
