Page needs some amendments such as the title being SDSL Broadband.
The sign up page made me chuckle a little as the captcha says "can't read?" under it ... implying either that a user couldn't read at all, or couldn't make out the image. All signed up though, lets see if it works nicely. Good stuff f2s. |

Of course, they could have actually fixed the webspace instead?
I don't know about f2s nowadays, it's all about these value added services rather than fixing the stuff they offer first and foremost like email and webspace. Sooner pipex sell out the better, hopefully we can go back to the days when the guys WANTED to improve the service rather than cheap marketing gimmicks, until then, I'll stay away from being a customer apart from the odd payg dialup. |

Just tried the 'download file from the web' aspect to try and grab the new kubuntu image but it refused to accept that it was an iso not a text file.
Shame, I could see that being quite a nice tool. |

While I have no problem with f2s offering such a tool, I would say that I hope such services are not of the utmost priority at the moment, we've had security and now this, when some of the basics, such as email / webspace are not put behind services like this.

It requires Java enabled which isn't ideal at the moment :

Ok, I'm lost, how does this :
"Customers should note that the use of Virtual Vault will count towards their monthly usage allowances." correlate with this : "Totally Free & Unrestricted; this is a free service and there are no size limits on what you can unload." Can someone from F2S please advise ? |

devnull, the Virtual Vault service is unlimited and you can use it as much as you want. If you use it through your F2S connection (instead of say, your work Internet connection) you may be limited by how much your package allows you to transfer data, but that is a limit on your connection and not the Virtual Vault service.

Sign-up was quick and easy. Had a quick play from my work connection (4Mb up/down) and it seemed to do what was promised. Not sure I like the JAVA dialogs, but they work.
Here's a short movie (a fun and harmless animation) which will play from your browser, and here's a picture of the famous Burj Al Arab (The Sail) Hotel in Dubai. I grabbed both the MPEG and the JPG from the Internet just to see how the system worked, neither are mine. Andrew

Yep, I'd agree with the recommendation of Google Picasa, great bit of software, easy to use and really good for sharing photo's with friends and family. Certainly better than the Virtual Vault, that's for sure.

Anyone know if there is a way of using this from a (Linux) box running without a GUI? I'd like to use it from a cron job to back up my box periodically but can't see anything obvious.
Update: Just found it in the Ts&Cs: Quote:

Thanks for the response atsw - I have the latest version of Java installed already. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I am behind a coporate firewall on this particular machine - it works ok from home.
Still need to cure it for my purposes though. Regards

can you copy documents?
I wasn't sure from reading the information whether you have to transfer files from your computer to the virtual vault, or if you can copy them to it, so that they remain on your computer and are in the vault as well. Anyone know?
