No new posts in newsgroup microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.drawing

Any one got any ideas why no new posts have been populated in the newsgroup microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.drawing since April 2008?

The group is on the server (news.freedom2surf.net) and I can download the old headers but no new headers are present.

If I use a website based newsreader I can see new posts for this year in that group and I was even able to post to the group using the F2S server and see the post appear on those websites, but it doesn't show up on the F2S server.

Other newsgroups such as comp.database.ingres and comp.unix.programmer are working fine.

I've tried unsubscribing / re-subscribing and it downloads 962 headers but nothing after April 08.

I just don't like using web based mail readers.

Hi Michael,

I just setup an outlook expreess client to access microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.drawing using the server news.freedom2surf.net and I am able to download posts up to yesterday.... There are 16 posts after April 2008 so I am not sure why you are unable to get them.

What newsreader are you using?

I've just tried setting up Outlook express and it downloaded everything including my post. I can now see lots of messages for this year.


So it looked like it was a problem with Thunderbird, so I unsubscribed from the newsgroup and deleted the newsgroup data files in my Thunderbird directory. After setting everything again it's now downloaded everything. So it looks like the Thurnderbird files got corrupted somehow and stopped new messages from being downloaded.

Outlook Express is awfully old now - it's replacement, Windows Live Mail, supports newsgroups and is a lot more up to date.

In addition to f2s webmail, I still use my MS Outlook (2003), but I no longer use IE instead I've been using Google Chrome which I like very much. I've noticed, however, that a lot of doiwnloads insist on IE, but I don't know if I can have both Chrome and IE open at the same time LOL.

I've not signed onto GMail yet, but I've heard from friends that it's terrific,

I use Firefox, and can use both that and IE (yuk!!) at one time ... you could also try Opera, which has improved a lot over the last few years. Re gmail - I have an account & it's quite good; better than hotmail/yahoo et al ..
