Accessing things at home from work

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can access my pc, twonky server from work. I have a netgear dg834gt and can see my router from work when i type in my IP address and I know what ip address my attached devices are but dont know how to access them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Easiest thing is to use Logmein.com sign up for a free account that way you can access your PC anywhere in the world.

does it run on a specific port, as im not familaiar with a Twonky server. If it does, you need to port forward it in your router so if its on IP address (on your network) of 192.168.0.55 port 1234, you need to program in the inbound rules on your router, that port 1234 access on your external IP address needs to be forwarded on top 192.168.0.55

I use Remote Desktop to access my laptop on occasion:
I suggest getting an account at http://www.dyndns.com so that you don't have to memorise your IP address, set your computer with a static internal IP (rather than having one automatically set by the router) and set up port forwarding on your router for the service, make sure your computer's firewall is set up, and all should be okay from there.

Hi, just installed this, although it says I am on the trail Pro version. Does this revert to a free programme after the trial period? If not, I'll uninstall as it's only something I want to use whilst on holiday.
Thanks

If you log into the logmein page, you can swap between the trial and the 'pro' version

I have used it for years, always handy as it does not require anything firewall side changed.

Yes, it starts off Pro, but turns the Pro stuff off after the free trial.
