Static IP Win98 for LAN card
Hi,
I need some help, have a linksys lan card in a win98 machine, I want to give it a static IP to use with my linksys router. In win98 in Network settings for my linksys card, I have filled out the ip, subnet, gateway. In the DNS section it won't let you use DNS entries unless you put host and domain too, but as far as I know F2S do not require that. I can't seem to get internet to work without dns filled in either (assume it should retrieve from router). My other XP machine works fine with a static IP. I'm not sure what to do to get internet connectivity in win98 using a static IP, I must be doing something wrong

ok, nevermind.. I've sorted it.
I put the machine name in the host field, actually I don't think it matters what you put there according to a site I read. I left domain blank. Internet appears to be working now

Its effectively machine.yourdomain.com ... so in my case, I have prozac.home.lan, and faithless.home.lan.
Whilst home.lan doesn't exist, it looks pretty. |
