Office Pro 2007 oem no way of install?
I feel a bit of a fool here but I bought Office 2007 pro oem version from a website on the net at which I though was a great price.
It wasnt until id opened the box and discovered no disc as it was a medialess license I realised the price wasnt so good. Does anyone know where I can get hold of the actual software either via download or disc? |

It is something Microsoft have done to stop non OEM's like me and you buying this version of the software instead of the Retail, Home and student is only around 90 pounds though so unless you have a huge need for Outlook (It comes with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote), you can get that.
The only drawback is that it is licensed for non commercial use, but a plus side is it can be installed on up to three machines, as three licenses are included. Some people have stated that the non commercial use is enforced by Office detecting that you are doing business work on there, but this is not the case as people have worried it might clock up detections wrong, but obviously I would say not to break the terms of the license as that would be illegal!

Thanks Justin its just annoying that Ive paid good money for something only to find out I cant install.
The internet sites dont post any warnings about this and oem versions. |

Hi
If you buy Office 2003 before (I think the end of February) you can update it to Office 2007 from Microsoft for a small fee. |

If you download the trial version of office 2007 pro from the microsoft website it looks as though you can convert it to full retail version by entering the key tha you have (providing it is genuine!).
I have not tried this but this blog seems to confirm it (scroll down). http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/12/t...fice-2007.html Good luck |

PierreB - You can as this is what I have done, however you need a retail key, an OEM key will not work.

Mmm..
I felt sure there must be a way round this and found this, and similar others. http://www.ginger6.com/microsoft-off...k-p-14658.html But make sure it will do what you want. Also found this comment on ebuyer from someone who had bought a office 2007 pro oem medialess licence. Quote:
licencing.

Hm, I buy educational licenses at work and download the software through https://eopen.microsoft.com ... (office, vista etc). I take it there isn't an option for you to use something similar?

No there isn't Chaz. The way it works now is the OEM has to get a special Media Install Kit from the "big 5" and that allows them to install Office 2007 OEM on all machines or allow the option of it to be installed in a trial mode etc for the client, and then they can sell Licecnes to the customer if they want it or give a trial etc. The end user can then order recovery media from MS if they want or you have a way of making it for them.

Ah, shame.
I'll stick to my educational licenses for now then ... well, on the machines in that environment, no need elsewhere. |
