Website design assistance

Hi there,

I've been building a site for about a week now, it validates nicely against XHTML 1.1 standards, and has valid CSS. It displays okay in both Firefox 1.5 and Opera, but when it comes to Internet Explorer, it's a completely different matter.

I've knocked up a little page which gives a drawing of the layout, and a technical explaination of the layout. It also shows pictures from both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

http://will.work.for.b33r.net/~chris/site_layout.html

I'm not at liberty to post the url to the work-in-progress site at the mo, but I can provide it by pm to anyone who thinks they can help.

The problem is Internet Explorer not automatically filling the second row when the content expands. There is no default height set on LF and RF, so it doesn't display. I can use a javascript solution to automatically expand LF and RF once the page has rendered, but this won't help if people have Javascript disabled.

If there's anyone out there that might have an idea to a solution, i'd appriciate it muchly. Internet Explorer 6 is the work of the devil, i'm sure.

TIA for any help
