Hi
Just finished sorting out my lads pc. He wanted an Asrock K7VT4A Pro board putting in, his old socket 462 board died. When booting up I get no post. I get 2 short beeps, short pause, 1 more short beep. Any ideas. ? I am scouring the interweb, but your all so helpful on here I thought I would ask in passing. Cheers Easy |

I know it's simple but take the ram out and clean any dust and make sure the 1 or more sticks are seated properly in the slots, it is possible to put ram in and clip it down but it might not be properly seated which could prevent booting.

I am looking at the manual here:
http://download.asrock.com/manual/K7VT4A%20Pro.pdf Please follow the manual to make sure the jumpers are correctly set for the CPU you have fitted to the motherboard. The FSB jumpers must be set. |

sounds like display adapter problem, the actual beep codes do vary depending on the bios manufacturer, but from memory the beeps you describe would seem to indicate a display problem. If it was ram, that is if it thought there was on ram installed (or it wasnt fast enough) you would get a continous beep.

On a AMI Bios, it's most certainly ram related. How much ram sticks do you have in there? If more than one try one at a time to see when the error comes back.
