running a web serve on ADSL

I am wondering about dataspeeds that can be achieved running a webserver on ADSL.

Obviously download speeds are much faster than upload speeds on ADSL but if you run a webserver using your ADSL connection because someone is accesing your server down your line is the speed between my house and the exchange still only my upstream speed or because the user is requesting data downstream from server to Client will the speed be my download speed of 2272 kbps?

Any ideas anyone?

Below is info about my connection speeds:

DownStream Connection Speed 2272 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 288 kbps

Because you are sending data the client is requesting from your server, you can only send data to them at the speed of your upload speed (about 256Kb/sec after overheads I think).

Your download speed is the speed you can get stuff at, and the upload speed is the speed you can give stuff out at.

I have to ask; sorry if it sounds rude - if you can't answer that question for yourself - how do you plan to maintain a web server?

perhaps he is teaching himself how to run a webserver perhaps?
everyone has to start somewhere, and I've seen sites run by grads of certain "old" universities that use hideous colours, dont work, are insecure or have terrible spelling errors.
(I'm a grad of a certain older scottish university)
all im saying is give the guy a chance

I wasn't particulally not giving him a chance - but still just wondered how he intended to run a serious server. Obviously, I was leaving it open to him saying: "well, I'm teaching myself."
