Torrents !

Hi All,

Im on 8mb Max with a DG834G using Azureus

Been downloading a torrent and its only been going at about 30 - 35 kb/sec. My upload was set to maximum and was pushing out at about 40 - 45k which i think is my line maxed out...

Now it only goes at 30 - 35k, until i limited the upload speed. As soon as i set it to 10k - My download shot up to above 100 kb/sec. As soon as i set the upload to unlimited, it goes back down to 30 - 35k

Could someone else try this just to see if its only effecting my PC, to be honest i dont really mind as im reducing upload to get more download !

I dont mind if my torrents only went at 30k to be honest but thought that some other ppl may find this interesting and may want to try it themselves ?

Oh i have tried this with and without encryption, using several dif ports. All have the same effect

Cheers,

Craig

EDIT: Just changed to 16k upload and getting another 50kb/sec down on top of what i was getting

I think that's fairly normal. If there is no spare upload capacity, there is no room for the acknowledgement packets which are sent back to say data has been downloaded successfully, so your download speeds end up being slowed. Azureus themselves recommend that you set your upload to 80% of your maximum upload.
