new o2 number wrongness

So, I got a new mobile phone for christmas, and a new o2 number and sim card, since getting it I've had 1 txt from some1 (when I had given my number to no one), and this morning this local church number is trying to ring me (Repeatedly). Both a case of wrong number? would that really be possible? have I somehow got someones old number from somewhere? do they do that on mobile networks? the sim was from a brand new o2 card which I popped out.

I know what the number is cause I googled it (local landline number for a church), I haven't answered because I'm in bed half asleep so thought I'd see what people think on here

Mm, that kind of sucks mate.

Couple of folks here got new o2's for christmas and their numbers are 075 which I'd never seen before .... is yours similar?

If its any consolation, my landline number here is one digit out from the local pub so we get good phone calls!

Yeah it's an 075 number.

I don't see why I would be getting an old number and suddenly getting activity on it, as if people were trying to contact someone, that would be weird, so I'm hoping for some reason it's wrong number syndrome.

I might speak to the church to ask why they are ringing my new number.

Let me know if you hear of stuff like this happening to anyone else, cheers.

They do it with other phone numbers so there isn't any reason why they won't do it with mobile numbers. They would run out if they didn't.
