Freedom of speech?

Browsing through this section I see many topics that are not associated with F2S and the internet/technology, it's called General Chat for anything that cannot go in the other sections.

I see that my Poll/topic about missing Madeleine has been deleted, because of 1 person replying and complaining that it has nothing to do with F2S, the internet or us.. it's in the public eye so it can be freely discussed, mass and continued exposure by the media has affected the majority of people in the UK.

I am apalled with the way the media find it so easy to pounce on innocent people and ruin their lives by digging up any dirt they can find whether true or false. The media have been so kind to the parents I haven't heard a critical word about them in the mainstream press, which I find unrealistic when the truth is clear to understand and would probably be reflected if public opinion was noted.

If the person who posted harshly to my poll claims it has nothing to do with him then why does it have to be removed from a General chit chat section?

freedom of speech has been sadly supressed in a scientology style action.

Actually, there were several complaints before the poll was removed.

Probably because you need to view the notified post before getting any more notifications.

I basically agree with what you are saying and don't think it should have been deleted. I did actually think about posting in the thread earlier to say I had no problem with it. I think the thread posed a legitimate question, although you could perhaps have made it a little less blunt explaining why you think it might be the parents fault.

We've decided to restore the thread. If you don't like the thread you don't have to look at it or post in it, but I think it raises a good question about the issue which the press haven't really covered much. I understand some might not like the thread, but I don't think that should mean others should be denied the opportunity to discuss the issues the question raises.

surprised

thanks Adam, I am glad you understand.

In my defence, I didn't want to go out and write a long winded rant about my thoughts and go into detail, so decided to go for the minimal approach, with just a simple anonymous poll to investigate public opinion from the pool of people who visit here.

the point of a poll is to gather varying opinions, so I think it would have been worse if it sounded like I was going in with a one sided opinion, trying to force my thoughts on them.

Its probable that the press are waiting for the right time to raise the issue of blame until a more suitable time. They will be waiting for it you can guarantee. but even the press realize that creating an environment of anger towards the parents of the girl will hinder the investigation. How? less people will feel sorry for the parents and maybe some will stop making the efforts that they are already.

The press will also be wary of breaching 'Sub Judice' laws as well.

In England and Wales, New Zealand, Australia and Canada it is generally considered inappropriate to publicly comment on cases sub judice and can even be an offence in itself, leading to contempt of court proceedings. This is particularly true in criminal cases, where publically discussing cases sub judice may constitute interference with due process.

If you frequent F2Support you'll know me already

I'm sending this out to everyone, usually by email, but on forums that I frequent too, I'd be obliged if you guys can pass on this message via email or whatever. It came about after my son got into trouble after a coloured kid had been calling him abusive names (yeah just names, but... he's a kid!)

Anyways, trying to do something to correct the way this country has become!

Sick to death of the way this government is destroying this once great country that is OURS!
