PayPal and me?
I just tried to set up a PayPal account for the 1st time and got stuck because Paypal said that I already had one
So I phoned and they were good I donated (freedom2support) paid by credit card and this was processed by Justins Paypal. This set up a Paypal account (sort of) in my name. Now got email from Paypal saying save my info for future use but there was no password used. Any ideas |

Easy enough, click forgot your password on their site, and put in your email address.

Chaz
No good. I never signed up for a paypal account. PayPal created an account (just my email address and credit card details) when I donated via Visa 'cause thats how it was processed for Justin. There never was a password used when I paid by credit card. That credit card is out of date so I cannot confirm anything. PayPal are now deleting that account. Cautionary tale. Cheers. |

Yes, but regardless of you having a password or not, you used an email address so assuming they made an account you can put that email address into their site and request a password to come through via email.

As the old credit card data could not be validated I could not get to the password creation.
Paypal do not issue passwords. |

No, he made the donation a while back when it was in date. Its only now that he wants to use this account, but can't get a password because the card is out of date. (to even change it).
I find it odd he can't request a password from the website, and then log in and alter the details. Hohum, paypal does have a few stupid things going for it. |

If you have a paypal account don't forget to enter their Chrismas Prize Draw.
If you put "no purchase" in the transaction ID you get 5 entries (each day). http://www.paypalchristmas.co.uk |

![]() not sure what you mean Pierre about "no purchase" there's no such thing because it asks for transaction ID, which you see for each transaction in a paypal e-mail receipt, or in your paypal account. Why would they put something like that in? I don't believe it

If f2s has taught you anything, it should be to always read the T&C's

![]() Edit: Incase anyone's wondering, yes you do win with these PayPal promotions. The last one they did for PayPal Mobile netted me a fiver with no purchase required. Hoorah.

lol, actually I was sleepy and half lazy, so thanks for that. I scanned the terms page and didn't read everything, so I must have missed that part.
I'm really surprised they offered such a thing for free entries, cause they could have made more people use paypal transcations to enter. I assume one can enter the no purchase option every day in addition to any transacations. edit: hmmm what box to put no purchase in? |

I think there's some kind of law which governs prize draws and the like, most of them have a 'No Purchase Required' type clause, always useful if you want to try and get free stuff

You and me both... splits if either of us wins?
I just put 'no purchase' in each of the boxes and it told me I was good, and gave me the entries. My luck i'll end up with a pair of smelly socks and a lump of coal

I had a go and just put no purchase in the ebay field, and it worked "As you have used "no purchase" 5 entries have been entered into the competition for you." so I'll do that every day
![]() are they smelly because they've been filled with the coal? ![]() I'm sure you would wear a pair of smelly coal socks (with grinded down coal in the bottom of them) for a week if you had 1 in a 100 chance of winning 5 thou. |

Although I wouldn't mind the money, there's a limit to things I would do for it
![]() My luck seems to be spread very thinly these days.. the only thing I had was a good deal on a holiday the other day - free car hire and £225 off the regular flight price.

What really gets me is the fact that Paypal set up that "account" without me knowing (ok I should have read and understood the email receipt) but it was too late then.
They had my Visa details without my knowing That is the lesson I would like to point out I will still support Justin etc, but by......... Paypal? |

In my experience paypal has been great and I've never had any problems. Setting up an account is for your own security and helps automate any future use of paypal.
If an account was set up for you there should be a password for it, automated if not chosen during a sign up process. Cards can be added or deleted in an account and should not affect the logging in of an account. Since I have always made payments using an account I am unsure of the process of making payments if you don't have an account, I thought it is possible to make a payment without having to sign up for a paypal account, which does leave me thinking you may have done something wrong during your payment process to f2support, but I could be wrong. |

PayPal accounts are optional, but I was under the impression you did have to give some kind of password during payment incase you wanted to refund the transaction at a later date.
PayPal is good, depending on what side of the fence you are on. I've had money taken away from me, and been charged for the privilege, just because someone claimed a fraudulent transaction. Some people have had their accounts frozen just because they sold a PS3 on E-Bay - some people even have their Credit Card from PayPal, so they've been well and truly stuffed. I've had the pleasure of coding for PayPal in the past, and even had my code published. The integration if you ever need to set up shop is amazing, just don't ever fall foul of their dodgy policies

Paypal have confirmed everything I have said. I phoned 08707307191 twice and was told that if I paid someone with my credit card and that person had the order processed thro' their Paypal account, then that credit card data had to be entered into the Paypal system (logical) and that, in effect, created a Paypal account. But the account had no password. To enter a password (even to delete the account) I had to confirm the credit card details, but I could not. That credit card was out of date, cut-up/shredded/gone along with the security code. Confirmation not possible Account had to be deleted by Paypal, and I had to pay for the privilage
