Your Verdict of f2s............poll
Just wondering whether or not f2s will really recover from the apparent appalling service that we put up with. The trouble with adsl is, of course, that it only goes out of order when you really need it, which is maddening. Most times, I can live with it as I dont use more than about 5Gb per month so there are no downloading issues.
I also do wonder how many f2s members are actually having problems with their adsl service. Does anyone have official stats of the number of users that are affected? Is F2s definitely worse than the others out there? Obviously, since PIPEX bought them out, I have seen a big difference. At the moment the packet loss is amazing, but come midnight, it starts to become about 0.0023% which is about 43 times less lossy than the 1% packet loss. My ping also goes up to about 400 ms as well for a google ping, albeit rarely. My friend is on bt and these days his ping to google varies up to 800ms or so. Therefore, we both have issues. The biggest issue perhaps, is just the upgrading of the architecture behind adsl... Any opinions would be beneficial. Even the comparison charts of adsl providers on adslguide still show that f2s is amongst the best, but, the voters could be biased. Who knows what the reality is. What's the solution, apart from migrating? EDIT I dont intend to migrate because of my email addresses etc. The connection isnt bad enough for me as I dont play games much or do much downloading. I have free reign to go when I want though.. Last edited by andy12345; 01-08-2006 at 09:12 PM. |

Damn it I hit the wrong button, I dont have problems.
Though I will be migrating this is a cash reason and nothing to do with performance. |

When it all goes wrong F2S stinks more than my pants. But the main reason i'm leaving is financial.

I think F2S will recover in name only but it will take months if not a couple of years.
I'm migrating my 1st line for a £ reason as I'm going with cable / getting rid of Sky / BT etc and because I can. 2nd Line - no idea what I'm going to do yet because the cable option is not available Web / Email / Domain - Under consideration and dependant on spam control improving as its getting worse. Terran BTW The grass is greener - my 2MB Cable is way faster that my 2MB ADSL....

HI, i left F2S last month... excellent move on my behalf... moved to Freeola, and had a line fault sorted within a 10 days of joining, since then have had no disconnection problems , and am D/L at about 4MB.....IF i had been able to get hold of TECH SUPPORT with F2S they would probably of got the problem sorted , but i could not get them ..so of i went, and glad i did..
![]() F2S get a big thumbs down from me.. |

Other side of the coin..
I migrated to f2s from tiscali nov05. I have not experienced any problems with my connection, or my upgrade from 2Mb to max. I get a fast (5-7 mb throughput rarely dipping below 4mb) stable connection. I do not use f2s mail servers, so i cannot comment on them. Long waiting times on phone can be very annoying tho. I have only had cause to ring twice, both times i was number 40something in the queue. Rang back at different times, and still had a wait. At the moment I am a happy customer.

I am not going to leave just yet, but what I find very annoying is, I reported the slowness thing, they acknowledged very quickly but NOTHING has happened since. In any other area this sort of service would not be tolerated as it wasnt with with Dial Up, we just upped and left - I think this migration thing is all wrong, service levels would improve if we could take quick action. Service is pathethic

Well. nearly 400 views(give or take) and only 40 votes. Therefore, I presume that the other 350(give or take multiple reads of the thread as it built up) were either so angry that they couldnt think of voting without melting their keyboards, or , they are happy with the service.
Oh well, whatever.I did a 3 day cmd\ping from an aol adsl service to my freedom 2 surf adsl router ip.(friday eve to monday morning) and I lost the grand sum of 50 packets out of about 250,000, which is quite nice. That shows that over the weekend my connection must have been quite good. Looking at my 1 second ping (repeated) to bbc.co.uk shows times of 15ms min and over 150 max. Its all over the place. I will ping the aol pc that pinged me, to see if my connection does as well as the aol one did. I suppose incoming traffic gets more priority. Anyway, it could be worse. Lucky, I do not play games much or I would not be doing too well. |

it wont actually let me vote?
if it did my vote would have been " Inconsistent/Irritating" crap speeds which i can watch drop through out the day and night from many many diff locations tons of disconnections allll day long (all though not so bad this past week )only reason i havent moved is i dont really know how to go about it and dont want to deal with it when someone messes it up. if only ntl would run a line to my house

I moved away after 4 years last month to Newnet, I prefer smaller organisations.
Connection is definately rock solid and quicker according to speed checks. It's early days yet but tha grass appears greener and with fewer cow pats. It was a shame really I used to have a very good relationship with the old F2S team. The new owners have a lot to answer for if you ask me. Anyway will continue to vist here as there is always good advice from the team who run this site. |

I have been with f2s for 2 years and never had a problem until June/July. I still have a 512 connection and decided not to upgrade as I am not a big downloader. I do run my own Internet server and became somewhat annoyed in June when the connection kept dropping out. Since the f2s connection had been so good I assumed that the problem was on my side and I bought a new router which turned out to be totally unneccessary and it is still sitting in its box.

Sorry you felt you needed to go out an purchase another router. We hope you'll see that your service resume to what you've come to expect from f2s. |

The more this drags out the more frustrated I get, The f2s support team want me to do speed tests with the bt speedtester outside my f2s sign on, that would be great if the b----- thing would work but in true bt tradition I cant get at it - I can if I am signed on via my f2s acct, Cable looks increasingly attractive
