Reconnection charge?
I'm thinking of moving away from f2s, and have just asked by phone for a MAC code. I gather this can take up to five days to arrive.
The guy I spoke to was trying to get me to stay by indicating that I would face large reconnection charges if I moved away from the new provider. I was thinking of moving to TalkTalk, which involves moving the line rental away from BT. There seems to be a lot of confusion (I've done a fair bit of googling) as to whether one gets charged a £125 reconnection fee because TT have LLU, even though the lines from the exchange to my flat are BT lines, of course. Does anyone know if the situation is clarified? BT themselves say "If your house has had a BT phone service in the recent past and the line still has a dialling tone, it's likely it won't cost you anything to get your line working again (you can check for dial tone by plugging a telephone into the BT socket and lifting the receiver). You'll just have to pay your line rental (either monthly or quarterly), cost of calls, and for any additional services you require from BT. If no dialling tone exists on the line, or if you have been disconnected for non-payment, there will be a standard connection charge to pay of £122.33 (subject to survey). Please note that some properties (for example, new property developments) may have a white BT socket installed which has not yet been connected. In this case the standard connection charge of £122.33 will also apply. This fee covers engineering work in your exchange or your property in order to connect the line." But this does not cover the case where the line is rented from someone who has LLU. Yes, I know TalkTalk has had bad reviews in the past. But the recent issue of Which regarded them as generally satisfactory. And I have been impressed with the quality of support they supply on their customer forums, and also by the fact that I got a very sensible responses from a guy from TalkTalk who phoned me. |

Re: Reconnection charge?
Hi Danco,
Just to clarify that the response below is my opinion (based in a couple of personal experiences) and not F2S advising you if you would get charged by BT or not if you decided to leave TT phone package and return to BT.... ![]() Quote:
If you organise yourself in advance and you set things before the old service has stopped... then the line would be active, you should have a dial tone and BT should not raise any charges... ![]() I hope you find this useful
