Slow loading?
Is f2s being very slow at loading web pages currently?
I've just got a new modem. All speed tests show that it is faster than the old one. But web pages seem to take longer to load than before. Most of the delay is at the "contacting ..." stage. Or could it be the modem (Netgear DG834G)? I suppose I could switch back to the to see. |

Re: Slow loading?
I am using a Netgear DG834 v2 and am on the F2S Lite package and my download speed is around 5 Meg which considering the line distance and characteristics is not bad. Compared to my old package of 2 meg I am well chuffed.
I also find that there is a delay at the "contacting stage of a website browse but I am of the opinion that is more to do with the website server than F2S or the download speed Especially when the site is on a shared host. No doubt someone will know for sure. |

Re: Slow loading?
There's so much to consider when changing appliance of any kind.
I was aware, of course, that web access to my old modem was at 192.168.1.1, while to the new modem it is at 192.168.0.1. It turned out that, though the modem/router got its DNS automatically from f2s, I had to tell my computer to get its DNS access from the new address of the router. Evidently with the old address and the new router it ultimately worked, but took forever. This might help someone else. |

Re: Slow loading?
Try open DNS.
Dont use it myself but some people find a better browsing experience using it https://www.opendns.com/start/device/netgear |

Re: Slow loading?
Thanks for the offer of help, but it is not needed.
Once I realised that my computer was trying to get DNS from a currently non-existent address (that of my old router) and corrected it to point to the new router, all went flying along as it should. |
