Time to move on
After over 5 years with f2s is now time to move on. Not really because of the service I cant really complain about it, apart from the time email kept going kaput, having maybe at most about 10 hrs downtime in all that time I think. Cant say have had any real problems with speed either having said that as its on 24/7 would just leave anything to itself to download.
Rather am leaving merely due to cost can half the price I pay a month when taking the phone rental into consideration by moving to talktalk. |

Re: Time to move on
Be careful, TT aren't known for their stability! But then, neither are f2s anymore ..

Re: Time to move on
I have gone into it with my eyes open chaz. My brother and another friend have been using TT for a while now without any prob which is what finally made me make the plunge.
That and a free adsl 4 port wireless router at the moment which will be retiring my old 2003 wires only router which apart from the odd power cut has never been switched off since i bought it. |

Re: Time to move on
I'm pleased and hopeful for you. It's a bit like everything I suppose, some people have problems, some don't.

Re: Time to move on
My bird is on TalkTalk broadband and it has never let her down.
Yeah you get a free wireless ADSL router as well. You can't go wrong. |

Re: Time to move on
The offer of a free wireless router comes with a lot of providers now, even f2s offer it, so don't think just because they offer you free kit you can't go wrong; that's not true at all.
Like anything else involving a 12 month contract' be very wary, try and get agreement that you can within the first month get back out etc should there be a disaster on the horizon.

Re: Time to move on
I switched over this morning
What was driving me mad with f2s - apart from e-mail going down on a regular basis - no broadband new year's morning etc etc. was waiting for ages at the end of a premium rate call to tech support if things did go wrong. Now, I pick up the phone at local call rate and am answered immediately - it is pure bliss!!! My service must have switched over last night and my speed has improved immediately which was a surprise - thought it would creep up slowly over the next 12 days or so. Apart from having to reconfigure all my e-mail settings I am a very happy bunny![]() Ann |

Re: Time to move on
Ann,
Please consider my advice in sorting out your own domain with email as entering into another ISPs email @talktalk.net or so will only leave you with the some sour taste in your mouth when you next move ISP. Glad it's working better for you.

Re: Time to move on
Hi Ann,
I recommend buying a Domain from Heart Internet , pricing will be dependent on the domain you want, mine was £6 for two years. They offer free email & web hosting as well, I'm using it and and VERY impressed. Its dead easy to set up and administer, + you will never have to change email addresses again as long as you live ![]() Even if my ISP package offered web and email hosting I think I would still use Heart's offering... And no I dont work for them :P Last edited by Itsmee; 09-01-2009 at 03:45 PM. Reason: Added a bit :D |

Re: Time to move on
Thanks Chaz and Itsmee - I need some webspace and what you say makes sense. Itsmee that sounds an excellent deal! Thanks
Despite the hassel of changing provider - I am really pleased that I jumped. Don't think things are going to get any better with f2s. Ann |

Re: Time to move on
Just tried to follow the prescribed process for requesting a MAC (send an email to cancel@f2s.com) and received the following response:

Re: Time to move on
I got a response pretty quickly, offering the Billion wireless router and two months free of charge for my continued loyalty.
Unfortunately the recent CHAP authentication problems and the (seemingly) total lack of spam filtering have reduced my faith in F2S to pretty much zero.

Like you, I asked for my MAC a while ago, and was offered the same deal as you, so long as I contracted for 12 months. Told them that was a strict no no, and that neither of the offers interested me, I only wanted unlimited downloads for £13.99, which they reluctantly agreed to. So I am pleased with that deal, however with yet more problems with my e-mail (I can't receive or send!), plus I'm getting a lot of dropped connections, I think it's time I maybe moved on. |
