Username in CAPS ?
Hi,
Can someone please answer a simple question that official support haven't got round to answering in the last 24 hrs. I have (foolishly ?) recommended f2s to a friend. When the log-on details came from f2s her username was in Caps. i.e ADSL01...... I am unable to log-on using this name or indeed with it in lower case. Mine have always been in lower case and on her account page her's is too, which should it be ? Also it is more than 2 weeks since the line was activated but I have only just tried to log-on because I've been away. Is this relevant ? I believe MAC codes are time limited so maybe activation is. I raised a ticket about this yesterday tea-time, after holding on the phone for ages, but have not had a reply. It would be nice to be able to eliminate one possible problem before tackling the others. She's got a Zoom USB modem and that may be the problem, it says it's Vista ready but it doesn't show in device manager so I'm not convinced. Like the writer in another post I remember when f2s was great independant ISP but the support now is complete joke. A few weeks ago I had serious speed .. lack of.. problems on a line / setup that had been good for ages and the responses from support were pathetic. The usual drivel about master sockets / drivers / BT speedtest etc which if they had read what I actually said they would have known that I'd done all the normal checks before bothering them. I even gave them pathping results that showed where the problems were but to no avail - probably didn't understand. The BT test is particularly laughable - BT even tell you that in the evening when it's likely to be busy you may not be able to access it. So you can't use it to prove how bad your line is when the system is busy but f2s insist that you do. Plus you can only test every 3 hrs so you'd have to be at your machine 24/7 to get any meaningful results. Nice get out that. The threat of moving away didn't seem to bother them either. Fortunately after about 4 weeks it cleared up and I'm still here but if it happens again I'll be off to ADSL24. Good to see that some of the old regulars like Chaz are still keeping the faith and being as helpful as always. Good on yer ! bsw |

Re: Username in CAPS ?
My user names is sort of ADSL011111111111@f2s.gw5
ADSL in caps followed by users phone number @f2s. followed by whatever circuit user is on in my case gw5. I thought that the F2S log ins where all the same format . I just copy and paste from the original email sent by F2S on joining . jje |

Re: Username in CAPS ?
Hi jje,
I've looked back at my original email (2004) and it is in caps. as you say but on my members area page my username is in lower and I think that whenever I have had to enter it I've used lower case. It's all a bit confusing, maybe case doesn't matter. Must be the modem that's causing the problem. bsw |
