Router stats SNR etc

these are my routers stats from upstairs where it is kept due to wired lan etc

Code:
                Down Up
SNR (dB): 27.0 25.0
Attn(dB): 31.5 16.5
Pwr(dBm): 19.2 11.2
Max(Kbps): 8576 1064
Rate (Kbps): 2272 288
means very little to me apart from the bottom line

here are the stats when i move the router downstairs to which i think is the master socket.

Code:
                Down Up
SNR (dB): 14.0 17.0
Attn(dB): 54.0 31.5
Pwr(dBm): 19.6 12.1
Max(Kbps): 5056 796
Rate (Kbps): 2272 288
seems to be a large diff in them numbers. can any one tell me whats better, lower higher etc. based on that would i be better keeping the router downstairs to get more from max adsl? will the diff figures make a big diff?

well it seems the top one, is better

the higher the snr the better, the lower the Attn the better

so upstairs

....

and yes those figures would make a difference... the top ones are nice stats

example, i think your router is refering to the max speed you can get here

Max(Kbps): 8576 1064 this is from the top one

Max(Kbps): 5056 796 this is from the bottom one

as you can see the top one refers to 8mb+ connection, the bottom one is refering to a 5mb or there abouts connection

mate, that is something you will have to find out

it seems backwords, but from what the above says, it seems to be true!

good luck with your findings

p.s maybe you can check it from behind the master socket

look here for an example http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php

tested it after removing the face plate on the same thing downstairs in the hall and got this lol

Code:
                Down Up
SNR (dB): 30.1 26.0
Attn(dB): 31.0 16.0
Pwr(dBm): 19.1 11.6
Max(Kbps): 10144 1076
Rate (Kbps): 2272 288
not seeing much logic to this at all

i think it is the master socket, the same socket that reported the stats that related to the 5ish mbit lol.

unless all the phone sockets have the "test socket" under the face plate? in which case this my not be my master socket and i will get even better stats somewhere else lol
