Exclamation adsl username

i've got a big problem...meant to be migrating to f2s sometime today, was just going to try and login now, BUT! for some stupid reason my router webadmin page has a limit on the length of the username for adsl, i can get upto @f2s but missout .gw2 i don't really want to go out and get a new router, does anyone know if f2s would be able to "change"/shorten my adsl username?

thanks

What’s the make and model of your router? This is an issue for a number of older makes/models, but in most cases the manufacturer has issued new firmware to allow for longer ADSL usernames. Check the manufactures web site for an update first, but if still no luck, then give F2S a call to see if they can help.

its not looking good phoned f2s and they can't change my login name, phoned d-link, they say they can't help...there maybe an outside change that if i can get my heard around the cr@p telnet interface i maybe able to do it that way, but i've never seen anything useful in it

so, can anyone recomend a good, stable router for <£50? needs to be able to do no-nat out of the box (or with easy firmware upgrade) - my current d-link was a total pain to upgrade when i got it

From personal experience might I suggest either a D-Link 504T or a Netgear DG834. My 504T gave sterling service, I then lent it to a friend, and decided on a Netgear DG834G as its replacement. I have to say the Netgear is better in a number of areas, especially the functionality offered on the configuration side of thing. Both are of a similar price on ebuyer, around your £50 marker.

I'm using the DG834 (non-wireless) here, been rock solid for as long as I've used it (nearly a year now). They are also pretty good on releasing regular firmware updates to fix bugs & provide new features. The latest firware release adds support for ADSL2+
