"Verifying Username and Password" Hang?
Hello. I have seen that this has been a topic of discussion over the past few weeks, but I have just bought a new modem aftermy old one mucked up, and so I do not know if my situation is similar to the one others are having.
MY old modem was an external ADSL modem/router made my Origo. It was plugged in via the firewire port on my PC, and I never had to do anything to it (never even had to dial up once as far as I can recall) Now, that one seems to have gone haywire, so I bought a bog-standard internal ADSL modem made my Kobishi. With this new modem, I have to dial up. I phone tech support and got the phone number needed (0,38). He also told me the username was the one starting with adsl... which I knew I had seen on the F2S website. Alas, I forgot to ask him what the password was. Before phoning them again, I thought I would try to dial it up with no password. It got as far as "Verifying Username and Password", stayed like that for about 30 secs or so, and then gave me a error type 721 I checked the "status" window, and I see I am sending bites, but not recieving them. Is this because I am not getting past the Verifying stage, or is the error because it cannot recieve bites? In either case, how would I go about fixing it? |

I imagine you have to have the password there as well. It should have been in the e-mail f2s sent you with the original broadband installation details- it was for me anyway.

My guess is that you'll need to contact technical support at f2s again. I believe they do keep a copy of the password on their system.

Either that or reset your ADSL password in your member's area today and you will be able use if from tomorrow 09:30.

I *think* its fixed!
Was speaking to them on Tech Support, and he asked something about VPI and VCI, and if there was any way to change them. I said I have no idea, and while he was looking at something on his end, I had a look around. Finally found them, and saw it was set to 35 instead of 38! THATS IT! 3 days of mucking about because of 1 number! |

Yeah!
The username and password I was using was fine, its just that I had it set to 35 instead of 38. The only problem I have now is that every time I turn my computer off, my modem disconnects, and I have to wait about 1 minute for it to start up (after the computer has started up that is). Would having an external modem sort that? Because they have their own power source, it shouldn't disconnect, should it? |
