F2s Not Enabled Account - Good Friday?

I requested an F2S ADSL connect service on behalf of a friend - and she received an email saying it would be active on 25th March. I installed the supplied voyager modem - it seems to be recognised by the PC - I followed the instructions to the letter (noting when to plug it in, checking microfilters etc). The DSL light just keeps flashing (and taskbar shows yellow ' training') and despite several install / uninstall drivers and diagnostic tests is just doesn't connect. ( I checked with another voyager - same deal). The help file now seems to point at the ADSL service not being enabled as the drivers and connections all check out.

Could F2S have failed to connect this - or perhaps BT wholesale because it was a Good Friday? Can anyone check this for me? Or has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

It looks like BT haven't done the bizz at the exchange.
You could try running the modem cable directly to the master socket as a test to make sure the filter isn't faulty.

Thanks - well the DSL light on the voyager 100 is flashing green - doesn't mean that it is enabled at the exchange? This is why I am thinking maybe F2s haven't done it? *clutching at straws* Has there been any dekay from BT/f2s over the weekend?

You can test whether BT have done all their stuff by using the "BT Test Login"

A tutorial, written by Justin can be found here

As a rule you have a solid green for a adsl connection to exchange. Looks like BT havn't sorted connection at exchange, or connected the wrong line....
Me thinks a call to F2s would be in order to double check.

Thought I would update you on this.
1 problem solved - then another appeared and is finally solved.
I found out that my friend's husband had hard wired in a cable behind one of the telephone sockets to the Sky box - which I couldn't see when I checked the sockets. That was removed and the light turned solid green.

Then I tried to connect and got error 720 on the voyager modem.

A call to F2S resulted in them telling me that the TCPIP stack was corrupt and the only way it could be fixed was by a fresh complete install of XP! Took ages to get everything back on but I did this and the broadband connection works fine.

However - I then discovered this link:
http://help.netop.com/support/commun...cpip_winxp.htm

Seems I didn't really have to go to all that trouble? If this is the case then perhaps f2S need to update their helpdesk knowledge mgmt database to try this ?

Anyway - problem fixed.

The netsh comand does what it says on the tin. It resets TCP/IP parameters back to their default values (e.g it will remove any MTU / RWIN settings you have applied).

If your TCP/IP stack is corrupt, it won't help you.

However it is worth trying just in case!

F2S are aware. I learnt of it from them.
