Windows 7 Broadband installation
Hi All
I'm looking to see if anyone has successfully installed and configured Tiscali Broadband with Windows 7 RC1? Its actually my Dad who has this configuration and the existing Thomson 330 modem drivers wouldn't install, even the Vista ones. I've sent him a Thomson 716 wired router, in the hope that this might work but would like to hear from anyone who has been successful Thanks, in advance Bill |

Re: Windows 7 Broadband installation
Hi Bill,
I havent tried windows 7 yet (in the list of things to do ) but something that you have to bear in mind is that when windows vista was released, there was a compatibility issue with usb modems drivers that Microsoft finally got fixed... I suspect that with windows 7 is going to be the same.... you shouldnt have any problems with a router though....I'll install windows 7 in one of our test machines when I am back in the office next week and will run some tests with a few USB modems.... |

Re: Windows 7 Broadband installation
You could try installing the drivers in compatibility mode
http://www.thomsontelecompartner.com...k/Vista41C.exe To install a driver using Compatibility Mode, right click on the Setup Application Stub (usually titled Setup.exe or whatever program you are opening to install the driver) and click on Properties, and then click on the Compatibility tab, enable Compatibility Mode and select “Windows Vista RTM” from the drop down list, then click on OK and try again. |

Re: Windows 7 Broadband installation
Hi All
The router has solved our problem. The installation instructions were no greatly helpful but by accessing the modem's setup via browsing to http://192.168.0.1 we were able to configure it for the ADSL dial up. The router apparently reported that there was a connection error but this proved to be a false message as we are up and running. Thanks again for your suggestions and help |
