New email addy full of spma but never used.
I added a new email address (account) a couple of days ago and already it is full of spam, yet I haven't used the address at all. Is it down to random email addresses being generated by the spammers or are these additional addresses being found out some how? I still have an old PlusNet address and this became flooded with spam not long back. I received an email from Plusnet regarding it stating it was down to security issue or something. Could this be happening here?
This one was created to replace another one that also become jam pack full of spam days after being created and that too had never been given out. The main one created when I first signed up to F2S is fine, and has had next to no spam, despite being used all the time on websites, etc. It's only the extra ones, the *@f2s.com ones that become clogged with spam before even using the address for anything. And it's all the same spam, with subjects for medications, rolex watches, adobe software, bogus bank email, increasing my manhood, etc.

Re: New email addy full of spma but never used.
This happened to me a while ago. Turned out that the address had been previously used and closed down because it was attracting too much spam

Made a few edits and addtions to my post so you may not have read all what is there now. I must learn to use the preview to make sure I'm happy with it before posting.

Re: New email addy full of spma but never used.
Seems normal these days for an account to be grabbed by the spammers before you open it. Was the same with my Google mail account ,opened on Tuesday after creating on Saturday choke block full of spam .
These days i even get spam emails from one of my Tiscali email accounts . One private email address One for joining forums and one for shopping both these two are run through the free Spamjab.com service which cleans the bulk of spam ( 99%) jje |

Re: New email addy full of spma but never used.
Spammers target domain names and they've worked out they can target *@f2s.com.
If your account allows it, create a new email address using your host name e.g: example@hostname.f2s.com This will be fine provided the spammers haven't got hold of your host name already. Alternately you can buy your own domain name very cheaply these days. You can then set up very specific email addresses and forward the mail to where you like. I find the Thunderbird spam filter works quite well as another measure. |
