Email up the creek again!

Hi - Has anyone else had e-mail problems over the past hour or so. I am getting:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: .....................Server: 'inmail.f2s.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

If it is the F2s servers again I am going for sure this time

Have been hanging on the phone for 15 minutes to tech support - how much will I have to pay for their incompetence this time I wonder

Yes, broken again. Different error messages depending on the account and the time. Sometimes (very occasionally) one account will work, but never twice in succession!

Good job I don't use my F2S accounts for anything important - switched to Google months ago.

Re: Email up the creek again!

Yup, most definitely up the creek again on both f2s.com and subdomains.
Jeez these mail issues are tedious. And the spam has been flooding in too.

I even had to reboot my ADSL modem for the first time in ages last night as the connection was lost but thankfully restored after the reboot.

I could vent but what's the use..?

Re: Email up the creek again!

Here we go again?
It's a Friday so my guess is we'll not see mail 'til Monday, from the last major outage it's apparent that nobody with a clue works weekends.

Re: Email up the creek again!

Here's a Christmas story.....

Once upon a time there was a good ISP and it's name was F2S. In those days the service was good and reliable.

How I wish that were still true!!!!

Again no email nor even web mail. This is getting totally absurd. Can anyone suggest a reliable ISP to switch to?

It's completely screwed now but we've been losing e-mails for a couple of days it seems. Gmail is calling.

Re: Email up the creek again!

I got this email from them this week, it did not last long before another failure !!!!

Thank you for contacting the freedom2surf Technical Support Team. A review of freedom2surf’s mail platform had highlighted the need to improve both the platform and its architecture. This upgrade had been scheduled in Q1 2009 and was to be non-service impacting. Unfortunately, one element of the legacy f2s platform unexpectedly failed and the upgrade work was bought forward. During this work we experienced unexpected difficulties which have resulted in customers temporarily losing access to their mail box. Our technical teams have been working round the clock to resolve this and we now believe that this has been resolved. We can assure customers that no mail has been lost and we do apologise for the inconvenience.

Re: Email up the creek again!

It's alive..!
But for how long?
Test e-mails haven't shown yet, so don't know if anything has been lost.
Time will tell, maybe...

They used exactly the same explanation a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Email up the creek again!

They asked for comments on their recent Newsletter, and this is what I said:

Quote:
With the recent protracted email problems in mind, it would have greatly enhanced your credibility and customer confidence had you included a reference to these in your Newsletter, instead of just ignoring them as though they never happened.

Good customer relations involves admitting and explaining the problem areas, as well as reporting the good things.

Re: Email up the creek again!

Working for me. The message is just saying that there is an error in the php code (which they ought to fix and is worth posting a ticket about - just give them the same details). Don't know why you are being singled out for this, but it should be easy enough for them to fix.

I'd love to have sight of their Apache log file and see how many other errors they are getting and not fixing...
