I'm guessing what with no webmail inbox/folder content they have had some sort of hardware outage and are ploughing through the time consuming process of restoring backed up data (my inboxes/folders are empty but my online address book is intact). As for inbound email since the outage started - well that's another story - there's going to be one heck of a backlog ...

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

Even if they are restoring backed up data (good assumption that there's a back up!) it should not take this long.

Perhaps that's the problem? They can't find the backups ...

My f2s.com account is back. A couple of my domain addresses are back too. But the one that really matters is still an empty inbox (and folders) ...

Logged into my own domain webmail account and sent a test to a google account. The email was delivered but the "sent" folder in webmail is empty ...

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: '?????????', Server: 'inmail.f2s.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

I take it that email is not working again?

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

Email I sent from my F2S hosted domain address @ Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 11:56 AM arrived in my google inbox 18:55 today ...

So there is a queue and it is moving. Not sign yet of inbound email to F2S ...

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

I thought I would give my webmail one more try - and viola - it's up and running, plus 172 messages in the inbox.

I thought I'd never see them.

Just checked my outlook though, and you guessed it - server was interrupted, so it's not working yet.

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

These email problems just make me eternally grateful that I paid for my own domain (using UKWSD to host) which gives me unlimited (or near enough) email accounts as part of my domain.

The monetary cost (for two domains, .co.uk and .com) plus all the web hosting and email accounts is about £60 every two years.

The peace of mind it brings is priceless. Their service is impeccable. Like f2s used to be when they were based in St. Albans!

I took me about 6 months to painstakingly change my email address for my subscriptions, newsletters etc. Now all I get from f2s is junk mail.

Well, that's when it's working, which at 20:08 this evening it still isn't.

That's what they call resolved!!

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

Should I take things personally?
For well over a month my usage figures are recorded at least double the actual and starting Saturday I now can’t access any of my pop3 emails. Webmail seems to be working – meaning I can access the relevant inboxes but of course I don’t know whether emails are arriving there.
Anyone know if Tiscali provide customer support?

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

Anybody from F2S / Tiscali available for comment? Or maybe even to let us know what's happening and a timescale with this email issue?
You know, the kind of thing that used to be called customer service...

Yeah I'm getting something like that using POP3. Both servers are just closing the connection as soon as you open it most of the time, before they even send the greeting. IMAP doesn't seem to have the problem.

Re: How Can It Take So Long ??

E-mail is still playing up this morning too.
Webmail available.
Unable to connect via e-mail clients.
To coin a phrase, "How can it take so long?"

Mutter mumble...
