Re: S p a m!
OK - this is getting silly - I am now receiving bulk spam that looks as if it is coming from myself
- how can this be - eight of these overnight. I never log into any forum or anything else with my main e-mail box - I have a hotmail box set up specifically for that so it could not have been picked up that way. Has anyone else had this problem and how on earth do I deal with it. Thanks Ann |

Re: S p a m!
Yes, I to am getting about 100 "Jackrabbit" emails a day. Obviously spam filters are not working. Even my mailwasher program cannot filter them out no matter how many times I configure it to block this sort of spam.
Just like viruses, these things always adapt and seem to get through the security net.

Re: S p a m!
Same old problem almost everytime there is an email outage - spam filters get turned off and we're left to sort through the crap. MS outlook seems to be quite capable of handling the spam so why can't the f2s email servers? GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Re: S p a m!
I have had the same problem, loads of spam getting through - I got this response from F2S - "You will only ever receive email addressed to you. it is impossible for you to receive messages unless your email address appears somewhere within the addressing fields. Our spam filtering is based around IronPort, for further information, please see the link below:
www.senderbase.org" - If the amount of spam that gets through is anything to go by, this Iron Port sounds like a load of rubbish... (either that or it's not been configured correctly... ) |

Re: S p a m!
Useful tip for Thunderbird users which I found after trawling around when most of my spam messages weren't getting filtered as Junk any more:
Go to Tools / Options / Advanced and click on Config Editor. Type junk in the Filter box, then edit mail.adaptivefilters.junk_threshold to change the (default) 90 to 30. So far, this is now working well for me, with a couple of false positives which were mailings from companies I've used in the past trying to sell me more stuff and which I am happy to leave in the Junk folder. YMMV, so check your Junk folder for false positives that you really don't want to be there. |

Re: S p a m!
I didn't know which thread to post this in - there are more than one for Spam!
I think it is ridiculous that Tiscali don't use filters. I have now come to the conclusion that I shall have to change my email address, and inform everyone of a new email address. Because of spam - 65 this morning when I opened up. The other reason being the outages which we have all suffered recently on a more regular basis than I have ever known. So, if anyone can point me in the right direct to reliable email service, I shall be obliged. |

Re: S p a m!
I've switch to using a windows live account (hotmail). Very little spam so far but no sure how it will fair as the months roll on but it's certainly far more reliable than F2S. The latest livemail program (outlook express replacement) is very good if you don't want to use webmail .

Re: S p a m!
Just asked for my MAC no. but was persuaded to stay by the offer of a 20:1 contention ratio service. Hm - wish I hadn't said yes now as spam is reaching ridiculous proportions - all four e-mail boxes affected - with email that has my e-mail address as the sender - always from the same source. It is getting very waring. If f2s did something about this I would possibly consider staying long term but will give the new service a couple of months and if there is no decrease in the level of spam I will go. My at office e-mail (1 & 1) has very effective spam filters - I get a weekly spam report from them and can see what has been taken out and put in the spam file so nothing I want is deleted accidently. Why aren't f2s able to supply such a service?

Re: S p a m!
Aaahhh, you've been had Ann!
The 20:1 contention service won't help you with your email issues, and I doubt if I'm honest whether you'll notice any difference. Are you on LLU? If not, they may well be moving you that way!

Re: S p a m!
You say a few months, have they not tied you in with a 12 month contract for your efforts?

Hi Chaz - no - as far as I am aware I am not tied into a 12 month contract. They offered a lot of other goodies which I declined, ie free router and 2 months free if I signed up to a 12 month contract but I specifically said in my response that I was not prepared to sign up long term. If I find that they have done this I willl .... expletive expletive expletive. And I do have a very good solicitor!!!!

Re: S p a m!
ahh you should be alright then, good stuff.
honestly though, look for a new provider in the new year. excuse the lack of caps, keymap gone wrong on this keyboard, shift no longer functions.
