Nigel, thanks for the quick and reassuring, although unsatisfactory, reply!

Re: E-mail down again?

Can someone explain - I am using a different on line e-mail account - from my laptop and still unable to send e-mails - they are just sitting in my outbox get the message "Task ..... sending. Reported error 0-x8004210B. The operation timed out.

Now this shouldn't be going through f2s e-mail servers so what is happening.

Re: E-mail down again?

Annc, you probably would be using F2S serevr's for outbound email even though your inbound is another ISP. Check , in Outlook, Tools, Email Accounts, Change.. Outgoing Mail Server... does it say "outmail.f2s.com" or something else ?

isn't it a pity - that at great cost, we still don't have reliable email with this lot?

Re: E-mail down again?

webmail is totally knackered as well. 2nd time in a month and about the tenth time this year, total crap service.
"Carrying out essentail maintenance" so why wasn't it scheduled? Totall bull as nothing was posted on the status page until people start complaining - as usual.
So F2S bods who are looking on here, what's been the problem this time? Spam scanner gone tits up again?

In case anyone else is looking, plusnet PlusNet *|* Home & Business Broadband Internet Access & Phone Services UK seem to have a reasonable offer at the moment but whether they are any more reliable than F2S I couldn't comment on.

Re: E-mail down again?

Yep.

Mid-afternoon, Tuesday 28th.

Situation normal - AFU as usual. Variable speeds, email has vanished (AGAIN!!!!!!) and usage stats a total fiction. I don't think F2S/Tiscali are even paying attention these days.

Time for a MAC I think.

Re: E-mail down again?

I joined F2s February 2005.

All the problems I have had in my time here have been email server related. (seems that every few weeks they are finally fixing it, but never fully succeed) Finally last Friday after receiving an email that had got stuck somewhere for 2 weeks I got my MAC code.

I am off to Be on Friday, they cannot be worse than F2s, can they?

My email came right yesterday afternoon, and I did notice that my webmail was working fine. After my post I went to webmail and all was well.

Usually, I have noticed that when inmail is down, webmail is also down.

I would agree with you that since 2005 the problems have mainly been with the email, and it seriously angers me and others.

Prior to 2005 and on a few occasions since, the problems have not just been with the email, however.

Sometimes, one cannot even get connected to the net.

A seven-year-old boy was at the centre of courtroom drama today when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.

The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to Ayr United Football Club, whom the boy firmly believes are incapable of beating anyone.

I work in Ayr so I have to keep a low profile

A good sense of humour will carry you through all of life's ups and downs.

I am an Ayr girl, but used to live in Kilmarnock until 1986. Being the realist and logical thinker that I am. I returned to Ayr, this is why I soar like an Eagle!

I don't think the problems with the platform at Pipex is the reason, but you just never know. All I am aware of is the utter frustration of having no email.

Re: E-mail down again?

No, my email returned to normal late yesterday - sorry if I gave the impression it was otherwise!

However, I'm thinking of switching. Quite apart from the fact that I think I can get cheaper Broadband, I'm tired of all the breakdowns and outages.
