Thumbs down Late emails....

We have had so many problems with our f2s mail since the start of these servers being moved over.

We now have a client that uses AOL but doesnt seem to receive mail until upto 12hours later.

Please advise asap.

Hi Mandy,

Sadly yes, this appears to be the trend at the moment. It seems to have got better for a while and now appears to take around 5 mins at non-peak times, but over 90 minutes during peak.

AOL is another kettle of fish too, as they use a draconian blocking system which f2s seem to keep getting caught up in due to a naughty user who has been slapped a few times.

All I can suggest is try using a non f2s address and see if they receive it quicker.

As you say client, I am assuming you use paid email hosting with f2s? - It would be a really good idea to move it away from them if you want to keep in touch with your clients!

chaz what do you mean slapped a few times? if there is a user who's been using f2s to se nd spam surely they should've just been booted off the ISP?
anyways mandy it doesnt sound like the email is being blocked, it's just slow to get through. unfortunately there is nothing in the internet email spec that says that messages should be delivered to their final destination within a specified time - they can sometimes take days although an hour or less is more usual. It may be down to congestion at her end...can you possibly post one of the headers of the email as she receives it? that might reveal where the delay is.

It wasn't ever made clear whether the user was removed for his abuse of service, whether intentional or not.

I used slapped figuring he was spoken to firmly if not removed.
