SPAM Emails returned to my inbox which I never sent

Hello,

I don't think this is an F2s specific problem but I would appreciated some advice.

I have started to get loads of Emails returned to my inbox which I never sent subject "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" which appears to come from my domain. I have an up todate virus programme.

Can anyone advise what i can to resolve this problem.

Thanks

Someone is using your e-mail address in one or more SPAM messages. All the rejects come back to you, as that is who the message supposedly came from in the first place. With luck, it will stop after a few days, once the e-mail has either reached all intended recipients, or timed-out on the others. Sadly there is northing much you can do if it continues, except switch to a different e-mail address

If they are bounced spam messages then you can try implementing a filter to drop all mail from <> (This does have the unfortunate effect that you will then not recieve genuine mailer notifcations of non-delivery of your own sent emails).
The other thing is to only accept email for valid email names, more often than not if a spammer is using your domain name as a from address the email name (the bit before the @) is some random name.
There are also spam/virus emails going around that appear to be bounced messages.
As Andrew says, normally they die off after a few days anyway, in the meantime how to deal with them depends on how you recieve your email and what client you use.
