Lightbulb Should Freedom2Surf change their email settings to prevent incorrect blacklisting?

Over the last few days and weeks, Freedom2Surf users have found that email they sent is not being received, due to incorrect automated categorisation of it as of an unsolicited nature by various email server blacklisting organisations.

Freedom2Support Team member Karl has posted excellent suggestions that, if implemented by Freedom2Surf, would minimise and/or prevent the appearance of Freedom2surf email servers on such public advisory of possible problems lists ('blacklists'). By voting in favour of changes to the email servers' (or, indeed, server's) configurations, we can help ensure that our email continues to function as expected.

If you do not wish to see changes to Freedom2surf's email server configuration, here is a place to make that known.

Question

What does the suggestion "Allow users to relay through outmail.freedom2surf.net with SSL on port 587 (to avoid port 25 blocks on other ISPS)" mean?

In other words to allow you to connect on a different port from other ISP's who block access to port 25 from their services.

Thanks Justin

So as I understand it the problem is the name of the f2s mailserver looks like it belongs to a dial-up IP address. The solution is to change the name/DNS records to something that looks more like a mailserver.

I am a little lost as to why there is a need to create SPF records or allow relaying from third party ISPs - I imagine I don't have a full understanding because I don't see why these suggestions are relevant/desirable? Can you explain it please?

The other problems in that thread have mostly been resolved since then, SPF is related to spoofing of email addresses with worms etc, it helps prevent emails from looking like they come from people that they don't.

As for the names of the freedom2surf mailservers, yep, that was the problem, they looked more like an ADSL/Dialup users ip address rather than a mail server, it's since been renamed to outmail1.freedom2surf.net which helps solve this problem.

As for the relaying from third party ISP's, this is so you can access f2s outmail wherever you are in the world, as some ISP's only allow you to use their SMTP server for mail provided by them.
