Mail not being received:(
Hi
I dont seem to be able to receive mail from any address at southerninsulation.co.uk... No bounce mail is returned to the sender and the mail arrives in other accounts just none of the f2s accounts that I have or my friend has! ![]() I contacted support and they said the mail is recieved but blocked something to do with the reverse look up of the mail server mail-cluster.portland.co.uk which resolves to 212.15.64.15 with a reverse lookup of tomsk.portland.co.uk Is this the reason it is being blocked?? lots of isps have mail clusters dont they?If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them as I need to be able to get mail from the above peops! ![]() Cheers Matt |

Usually an ISP won't need a mail cluster because DNS and SMTP have got a built in failover system in MX records, however in this case the ISP Portland seem to have a really, really convoluted setup
- as you say above, 212.15.64.15 resolves to tomsk.portland.co.uk, but that then resolves back to 212.15.64.16. Unless either F2S are willing to change the way they validate incoming connections, or Portland are willing to reconfigure their mail infrastructre, looks like you may have to use an alternative address for these folk

Thanks for the prompt reply bright...
Is there such a document that details exactly how F2s filter mail? Or is this seen as a bit of a hole as then someone could see a way round it?? Many thanks Matt |
