File size too large.
Hi, trying to send a photo which is about 8mb, over the limit. Have tried zipping it, but it is still the same size. :-(
Anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong, or what I can do to send this file? The annoying thing is I have zipped a larger file than this and sent it before, not sure where I'm going wrong. Thanks Frank |

If it's a JPEG then it's probably already highly compressed, hence zipping has little or no effect. I'd suggest using a zip program to break the photo up into little chunks, or even better ... uploading the file to your webspace. Email has always been a little inefficient at sending non-text attachments anyway.

Thanks Stephen, despite having the webspace with f2s, I never use it, wouldn't know where to start! :-( The only time I've looked in my web address, I get Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Do you know of any idiot proof, "take you by the hand" type tutorials? ;-) Someone has purchased a photo of mine, so to get me out of a hole, I've stuck it on my "pbase" site for a while, he can download it from there. Thanks Frank |

If you're using Windows XP (and/or 2000?), there's a way to make remote FTP servers look like a regular folder to Windows, so you can just drag & drop files across. It won't teach you anything technical about how FTP actually works, but it's an absolute doddle to use.

You might find:
http://www.freedom2support.net/webspace/ftp.php useful. We're working on a beginners guide to uploading to and using your webspace to be put on Freedom2Support to asist users with subjects like this, but I wouldn't expect to see it this side of Christmas because of the lack of time. It might be done before, but I'm not promising anything. We have quite a long list of stuff we would like to do for Freedom2Support, but the trouble is finding the time to do it in

Thanks Stephen and Justin. I did upload some shots to the web, think I'll rest on my laurels now for a while! ;-)

Is there also a way to do this for mac users just like mac.com? |
